Start this school year off right! Make sure to take advantage of all K-Week has to offer! Aside from free food, tshirts, and other great giveaways at K-Week events, this week is designed to help introduce the wide array of amazing resources, organizations and facilities that UK has to offer! Join SAB “Under the Sea” at Campus Ruckus, their annual semester kick-off event, on Aug. 23 at Commonwealth Stadium Blue Lot. Learn more about student organizations on campus, including Student Government Association, African Student Association, CATalyst Coalition, DanceBlue and many more. Find the organizations that are right for you and ask how you can get involved. Be sure to sample some of Lexington’s finest college cuisine and pick up tons of free swag including t-shirts!
Student Center Spectacular

Wondering where you can become involved on campus? Joining SAB at their annual Student Center Spectacular event is an opportunity you will not want to miss. Learn about many of the student organizations at UK, such as WRFL, OUTsource and the Student Government Association. Play games, tour offices, meet other students and score free swag, like t-shirts and giveaways. Enjoy free food and music as you make your way around the Student Center at your leisure. End your experience in the Student Center with a “Spectacular” magic show at 11 p.m.

What’s a better way to end a stressful first day of classes than by relaxing with an outdoor movie? Kick back with The Amazing Spider-Man 2 on Aug. 27 at 9 p.m. on Johnson Center Field. Grab a group of friends and enjoy one of the summer’s biggest blockbusters with SAB for free.

As the school year begins to come to a close, the SAB office has been reminiscing on all of the awesome events that we were able to put on this year. One of the most memorable for many in our office was the fall concert, featuring popular folk-rock band, The Lumineers. Legacy Week gives Seniors the opportunity to leave their mark on campus AND make last-minute memories. All UK students are welcome to participate in Legacy Week.
Ping Pong Ball Drop - April 23 - 11:52 a.m. - POT Plaza
The Ping Pong Ball Drop is a UK tradition. Thousands of ping pong balls will fall from the top of Patterson Office Tower. Find a marked ball and you’ll win an awesome prize!
Senior Candlelight Ceremony - April 24 - 7:30 p.m. - Administration Lawn
UK Seniors will have the opportunity to hear University of Kentucky President Dr. Capiluto speak and Provost Christine Riordan light candles in honor of their time at the University of Kentucky. Seniors can learn the Alma Mater snag some “final-stretch pictures” with their friends in a photo booth, and write a “Thank You” letter to any staff or faculty who has positively influenced the undergraduate experience!

Leave Your Legacy - April 26 - 9 a.m.-3 p.m. - Memorial Hall
This event will serve as an outreach opportunity on and off campus for students to become involved in leaving a lasting impact as a student on our campus and surrounding area.
You can register for the service day at the link below by April 23rd. Students must register through VolunteerMatch.
On the day of the event a sign-in will take place at Memorial Hall from 9-9:30 a.m., and will include keynote speakers from recent alumni to government officials of Lexington! There will be transportation provided to off-campus locations for the service day and all events will be finalized by 3 p.m.
The office is preparing for our next Shuffle Series featuring bluegrass artists The 23 String Band! With tomorrow’s impending cold weather and snow, we’re especially looking forward to those long, hot summer days. Check out The 23 String Band before they play April 23 at 6 p.m. in the South Campus Courtyard!
