Amidst the hype for the upcoming film The Great Gatsby, its tantalizing soundtrack sampler was recently released and it already has us hooked. A personal favorite has to be Florence and the Machine’s “Over the Love”. Florence Welch kills it with her ghostly vocals and sings the story of Jay Gatsby in a new modern way. So go now and listen to this sampler, it will get you hooked on this summer blockbuster without even watching it.

Thanks to our Director of Cultural Arts, Brittney, for manning the cotton candy machine at the Bond Movie Drive-In! It was just a little messy…
Who doesn’t love a good Otis Redding song? No one, that’s who! Sarah Bareilles’ cover of “Sitting On the Dock of the Bay” from the album Live At the Fillmore will make you want to stop what you are doing and just relax. Her soulful voice puts new spin on this R&B classic and revamps it for a new audience. Warning: you may get addicted, and you might whistle the rest of the day!

This week, we’re spotlighting RaeVonna Mitchell, our Director of Multicultural Affiars! She’s a senior from Lousiville, KY in Integrated Strategic Communications (Anthropology minor). Her latest event was yesterday — A delicious International Dessert Contest.

UKSAB is proud to announce the first ever Legacy Week!
Legacy Week gives Seniors the opportunity to leave their mark on campus AND make last-minute memories with super fun events! All UK students are welcome to attend, and we’ve got three events lined up that we know you’ll love!
Soundbites with Sundy Best - April 16 - 7 p.m. - Worsham Theatre
Soundbites provides a behind-the-scenes look at the musical journey of Kentucky-native and Lexington-favorite, Sundy Best! Hear the stories behind what the band describes as “mountains in their music- valleys of love lost and missing home, peaks of rowdy Saturday nights chasing Kentucky women, and the journey in between,” while also enjoying the band’s self-described “front porch melodies and song lyrics grown out of the rocky topsoil of Eastern Kentucky”.
Ping Pong Ball Drop - April 17 - 11:52 a.m. - POT Plaza
The Ping Pong Ball Drop is a UK tradition. Thousands of ping pong balls will fall from the top of Patterson Office Tower. Find a ball with writing and you’ll be able to win awesome prizes!
Candlelight Ceremony - April 17 - 7 p.m. - Main Building Lawn
This event will host two guest speakers, both UK alumni. After the presentation of the leadership speakers, seniors will have a chance to light a candle in memory of their four years at the University of Kentucky and will learn the Alma Mater. Post-ceremony, seniors can visit Alumni tables from UK’s Alumni Association and individual college alumni associations to see how they can remain a Wildcat after they walk across the stage in their cap and gown. Seniors will also receive a pin to wear at Commencement.
Seniors can RSVP to the event here.
Royal Teeth with Wild Party - April 18 - 8 p.m. - Cosmic Charlie’s
